If on the Google Play store the Urbasee app does not display from your phone, your device is not compatible.

What types of 3D files can I upload to the Urbasee workspace?

Files in DAE, 3DS, OBJ, FBX, BLEND, IFC, KMZ and WRL formats are accepted. To load the associated textures, place the file with its textures in a ZIP archive and load it into your URBASEE workspace.

What is the maximum size accepted for a 3D file?

The recommended maximum size is 100 MB. Also, think that your file needs to be processed to make it compatible with a mobile application that does not have the hardware power of a 3D workstation.

My 3D file is less than 50 MB but it is denied by the platform / or its processing time is more than 1 hour. What should I do?

The URBASEE platform processes your 3D file so that it is compatible with a mobile application. This processing time can be longer or shorter depending on the complexity of your model. Always keep in mind that your 3D file must be viewable on a mobile device (smartphone / tablet) and that this type of platform does not have the hardware power of a 3D workstation. You must adapt your model for real-time 3D.

What should I do to make the rendering of my file optimal on a mobile platform? What are the optimizations to achieve?

To ensure the proper loading of your project, but also to benefit from the best possible smoothness when you visualize it, make sure to respect the following specifications:

- 1 000 000 triangles (this number may vary according to the number of textures present in the 3D)
- Textures + 3D model < 100 MB (a texture should not exceed 1024px * 1024px)
- 100 materials
- 150 objects (it is advisable to group a maximum number of objects in your 3D scene)

Other options in the modeling can make a model to not work even respecting the limitations. In this case, feel free to send us an inquiry via our contact form.

What type of faces should I use to model my building?

You must exclusively use triangles and / or quadrilaterals and make sure that all the summits of your modeling are linked.

The previews of my 3D model are not correct, the screenshots are unreadable ...

Make sure you've loaded textured templates, not templates with simple colors.

My model has many voids, it lacks triangles, faces. What to do?

It's a problem of « inverted faces ». Triangles exist, but are orientated in the wrong way. Check the export settings of your software, and if necessary reorient the faces.

How to use Sketchup to realize your 3D modeling?

If you use SketchUp to realize your 3D modelings, we recommend to export in COLLADA (DAE) or KMZ format before loading your project on URBASEE and advise you to respect the export options illustrated below:

The DAE file can be submitted directly to the URBASEE workspace. Make sure you haven't forgotten the associated textures

IMPORTANT: MODELS MUST BE ORIENTED IN Z-UP.

My project does not appear in the project list in the URBASEE mobile application.

For a project to appear in your list, you must first load your 3D model into the workspace and wait for it to be converted for your device.

Does the URBASEE application require an Internet connection?

Yes.
The application needs to be connected to the URBASEE servers to download your 3D data to your smartphone or tablet.

However, there is a cache mode (offline) that allows you to download the data to your mobile device if you are going to a site with insufficient network coverage. Just visualize your project on your device before going on site. The application will offer you to use cache data the next time you no longer have a network connection.

What is caching?

Caching is an icon available on each template imported to your application from your workspace. It is necessary to check them in order to use your 3D model offline or in an area not covered by an internet connection.

I can not trigger augmented reality. How to do it?

Just open a project in your application. You will then have to make (slow) circular movements while aiming with the camera of the tablet or smartphone. The augmented reality will then appear on the detected surface. Some surfaces may be detected faster than others.

I can not switch my model to scale 1 (real size). How to doit, which button to press?

To switch your model to scale 1 (full size), first trigger augmented reality and then tap the +1 icon in the toolbox at the bottom of your app screen. Your model is then displayed at real size. Objects smaller than L: 3 x l: 3 x H: 3 meters are displayed directly at actual size.

Why does my 3D model flicker in augmented reality mode?

Be sure to scan on a stable flat surface. Be careful, for example, especially at grassland if there is wind because the augmented reality will not be stable and your model will flicker.

In which cases does augmented reality mode not work or is not stable?

Augmented reality mode will not work (or with difficulties) in the following cases:
- Grass fields with wind
– at night
– on solid colored floors
- if there are reflections on the ground
- on a surface of water.

Which nomenclature should I adopt for my cuts or visualizations per level to be managed in Urbasee?

So that my cuts and visualizations by level are visible in Urbasee, it is necessary to respect a certain nomenclature according to the 3D modeling software used.

In 3DS Max, Maya or Blender: create a dummy, named IN $ parent of 2 dummies named BUT $ and ROO $:
BUT$ will match the position of the button to enable level visualization
ROO$ will be the parent of the items to hide

In Sketchup :
Group the parts to hide in ROO$
Create a box named BUT$ at the postition where you want to display the button
Group BUT$ and ROO$ in INS$
